Most baths are end drain baths since wherever the drain is the plumbing must be as well. It is easiest to install a bath in a renovation with an end drain because most exisiting homes and new construction place the plumbing near a wall surface and not in the center of a floor. An alternate drain location forces a plumber to relocate plumbing below the floor surface and can add time and expense to your project.

When thinking about the space you have and the position of the drain remember to think about the drain as being on the right hand side or left hand side as you are looking at the bath. This is important as it will help you choose the bath and options you want. Options, such as control location, are often dependent upon the drain location.
